2 Yard Container debut in American Waste Digest and The Hauler

The advertisement for the ICMA 2 Yard Container was placed in the January issue of American Waste Digest, and the February issue of The Hauler. The cost of the ad was shared by the ICMA and participating members. American Waste Digest has a circulation of 35,000, of which 10,000 are independent waste haulers. The Hauler has a circulation of 19,000 waste haulers.

Insurance survey

On December 16th we sent out a new insurance survey for Property General Liability, Auto, and Workers’ Compensation insurance. We will focus our efforts on these insurance products. A health insurance program is more complex and will take much longer to accomplish. The new surveys should be returned by January 20th.

ICMA Web Site Goes Live

icmaonline.com designed by John & Carol Scheidelman, is now live. The web site appears in our advertising, on our 2 yard sell sheets and price list. Visitors to our web site can find ICMA members geographically. Each ICMA member has a mini web site within the ICMA web site. There is unlimited space for product descriptions and digital photos of containers. Each ICMA member has prepared a short description of their business for the web site. There are links available to other web sites relative to the container business.

Caster purchasing will cost more in 2003

One of the goals of ICMA purchasing programs is to utilize the purchasing power of our entire membership to reduce costs and to eliminate the risk of market price fluctuations. Casters are commodities. By steering all of our business to a single vendor we will have control of our costs. This will lead to increased profits. The more participation we get from members, the lower our costs will be. Please submit your caster surveys.
Start planning for WasteExpo 2003

While it may seem like WasteExpo is a long way off, June will be here before you know it. It is time to start planning for this important event. The show will be held in New Orleans, June 3-5. We will have an ICMA booth at the show, and we will need your help representing the ICMA at the show. There has been some interest in having 1 large booth for all ICMA member companies to display containers. One large booth with several containers would have a larger impact than small 10’ x 10’ booth with only brochures. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure for the ICMA collectively and for each ICMA member. We will hold our meeting Wednesday evening, June 4th. Your suggestions for the booth and for our meeting agenda are welcome.
