Waste Expo in New Orleans June 3

The show was a success for the ICMA. We generated 63 sales leads for the ICMA 2 yard container and for steel roll offs, front and rear loaders and self dumping hoppers. The ICMA 2 yard container, along with the Florida Can round bottom container used in our booth were purchased by Richard's Disposal of New Orleans. Richard's will be testing these containers at seafood restaurants which have been eating through his metal containers. As expected many haulers would like to have our 2 yard plastic container as a rear loader. We are working to accomplish this by mid summer. The ICMA hanging banners were visible from anywhere in the convention center. Our booth drew the attention of national haulers and independent haulers, potential vendors and our competitors. There were several inquiries from container manufacturers who would like to join the ICMA. The Waste Expo was an opportunity for ICMA members to work together and show the industry that we are a unified group ready to set high standards in container manufacturing.

Contract Welding, a complete metal fabricating shop located 20 miles west of Detroit, is a family run business. Contract Welding has a well deserved reputation throughout Michigan and Ohio, for building high quality containers that last like battleships.

Spirited ICMA Meeting in New Orleans

On June 3, after the show closed, 25 ICMA members met at the Parc St. Charles Hotel. The meeting started with ICMA vendors. Tim Kesy of Globe Casters announced that Globe now offers hook lifts made to spec. Larry Delson is the caster contact on the east coast. Terry Vernille of Weld Direct offered to work for food and visit each ICMA location to help with welding procedures. Corey bell of Independent Leasing explained the new tax laws and how leasing containers can reduce the tax liability. There was discussion about paint, changes to the 2 yard container, changes to our ad, and the introduction of new ICMA members.
